Mikaela Gerba initiated into Sigma Tau Delta honor society

Mikaela Gerba was one of six Trine University students recently initiated into Sigma Tau Delta English honor society. Gerba is a senior social studies education major from Highland, Ind. (46322).

Sigma Tau Delta had long been active at Trine but became dormant in 2009. The reintroduction of the professional writing and English studies major in 2014, along with the popularity of the humanities minor, has allowed the chapter to begin inducting new members again with this new inaugural class of members.

Sigma Tau Delta requires that students have at least a 3.5 GPA in both English and general coursework, have completed a minimum of two courses of English beyond general education requirements, and have completed at least three semesters of college course work. Sigma Tau Delta offers its members opportunities for scholarship, writing awards, publication and internships.
