Cast announced for 'Almost, Maine'
ANGOLA (10/03/2017) — The Trine University Drama Club has announced the cast for its upcoming production of "Almost, Maine."
Performances will take place from Nov. 9-11 beginning at 7 p.m. each night in Wells Theater inside Taylor Hall on the Trine campus. All performances are free and open to the public.
Cast members are:
- Emily Atwell, a sophomore from Fishers majoring in design engineering technology
- Austin Baker, a senior from Greenfield majoring in informatics
- Cyrus Colyer, a senior from Coldwater, Michigan, majoring in biology and chemistry
- Alex Denton, a freshman from Portland majoring in design engineering technology and mechanical engineering
- Alicia Dolan, a senior from Elwood majoring in biology
- Jasmine Morgan, a community member from Mongo
- Anas Qari, a senior majoring in chemical engineering from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
- Travis Riddle, a junior majoring in computer engineering from Stroh
- Kathryn Riehle, a junior majoring in chemical engineering from Defiance, Ohio
- Ivy Rubel, a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering from Bradner, Ohio
- Jacob Schmitz, a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering from Fort Wayne
- Miranda Scranton, a senior majoring in psychology from Hicksville, Ohio
- Matt Shaw, a community member from Angola
- Katie Simon, a freshman majoring in physical therapy from Paw Paw, Michigan
- Jenna Wilson, a freshman majoring in forensic science from Richmond.
Seth Cole, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering from Davison, Michigan, will serve as stage manager for the production.
The play takes place in Almost, Maine, "a town that's so far north, it's almost not in the United States. And it almost doesn't exist. Because its residents never got around to getting organized." On a cold, clear, mid-winter Friday night, the town's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways.
"Almost, Maine" was developed at the Cape Cod Theater Project in 2002 and received its world premiere at Portland Stage Company, where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim. It opened Off Broadway in the winter of 2005/2006 at the Daryl Roth Theatre and was subsequently published by Dramatists Play Service. To date, it has been produced by more than 2,500 theater companies in the United States, making it one of the most frequently produced plays of the past decade.
