CCH honors Batson with Distinguished Faculty Award

ANGOLA (03/26/2018) — Brett Batson, professor in Trine University's Wade Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, was honored with the Distinguished Faculty Award by the university's Christian Campus House.

The award, which is voted on by the CCH senior class, was given during the organization's 32nd annual banquet on Saturday, March 24.

Batson has been at Trine since 2006, when he joined the faculty as an assistant professor. He served as chair of the Wade Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from 2010-2013.

He earned his bachelor of science, master of science and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University.

"Dr. Batson has been my teacher, my advisor and my role model. His door is always open and willing to help students. He has been especially patient and kind to me," said Amanda Mast, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering.

"One thing I really enjoy about his class was that everything was completely earned, whether you succeeded or failed," said David Schaaf, a senior majoring in mechanical engineer. "He does not give you any grade that you did not deserve."

"We're grateful for the Trine professors who work to ensure their students are performing well academically and enjoying a well-rounded college experience," said Travis Wilhelm, lead campus minister and university chaplain. "The award is one way to recognize top individuals on the Trine campus."

CCH seeks to help Trine University better the student community as a whole by creating a ministry that serves their spiritual needs.
