Holy harmony, Batman! Trine orchestra to perform salute to DC Comics
ANGOLA (04/01/2019) — Following a February tribute to Marvel icon Stan Lee by the university's wind ensemble, the Trine University Chamber Orchestra will present "A Salute to DC Comics in the Cinema" on April 14.
The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in Ryan Concert Hall of the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, and is free and open to the public. Prof. Mark Kays, chair of Trine's Music Department, will conduct.
The orchestra will perform "Superman" by John Williams and John Ottman, "The Dark Knight" by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, "Man of Steel" by Hans Zimmer and "Wonder Woman" by Rupert Gregson-Williams.
The Chamber Orchestra includes community members in addition to Trine University students. Members include:
Flute: Kenny McClung, Aimee Simons and Katie Smith.
Clarinet: Jayden Hensley, a freshman psychology major from Wabash, Indiana; and Isaac Wyatt.
Oboe: Matthew Westjohn, a senior software engineering major from Fountain City, Indiana; and Katherine Wettstein, a senior biomedical engineering from Wheeler, Indiana.
French horn: Nicholas Biegel, a freshman electrical engineering major from Hanna, Indiana; Stephen Kays; and Alexis Koshenina, a freshman forensic science major from Remington, Indiana.
Trumpet: Kayli Savage; and Michael Swango, a sophomore software engineering major from Wabash, Indiana.
Trombone: Sam Corber, Wayne Mow, Jackson Sharp and Keagan Webber.
Tuba: (Charles) Ford Roberts, a freshman mathematics major from Edon, Ohio.
Percussion: Sam Adamson; Alex Jasper, a senior software engineering major from Niles, Michigan; and Isaac Porte, a junior mechanical engineering major from DeMotte, Indiana.
Violin: Kayleah Anderson, a sophomore chemical engineering major from Hillsdale, Michigan; Seth Cole, a senior mechanical engineering major from Davison, Michigan; Carl Felton; Kirsten Godfrey, a senior biochemistry major from Fort Wayne, Indiana; Lili Keen; Brenda Maurer; Shaelynn Pettibone, a junior English education major from Fort Wayne, Indiana; Jonathan Rupp; Susan Smith; Erin Thomas; and Jaimie Williams, a freshman mechanical engineering major from West Bloomfield, Michigan.
