Soul Food Fest to precede multicultural program
ANGOLA (01/16/2018) — Bon Appetit has announced the menu for the Soul Food Fest that will be held prior to the 27th anniversary celebration for Trine University's Multicultural Student Organization (MSO) on Friday, Feb. 2.
The meal will include fried chicken, baked macaroni and cheese, collard greens with smoked ham hocks and bacon, black eyed peas, corn bread, Leah's Vegetable Salad, Leah's Cole Slaw, carrot and raisin salad and potato salad. Peach cobbler and sweet potato pecan pie will be offered for dessert.
The Soul Food Fest will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Whitney Commons Café. The cost is $6.51 for children ages 5-12 and $13.01 for adults.
The anniversary program, which also celebrates Black History Month and the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will begin at 7 p.m. in Ryan Concert Hall inside the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts. The program, which is free and open to the public, will include a keynote address by Andre M. Ebron, a 2004 Trine graduate, president and CEO of Ebron & Associates and dean of culture at American Promise Schools. Choirs from Angola High School and Union Baptist Church in Fort Wayne will perform.
Trine University students, faculty and staff also will participate in the program, as will Angola Mayor Richard Hickman.
