Spring Humanities Symposia Returns

by Trine University's Humanities Symposia is back for the spring 2024 season. The series is presented by the Humanities and Communication Department.

Angola, IN (02/05/2024) — Trine University's Humanities Symposia is back for the spring 2024 season. The series is presented by the Humanities and Communication Department.

Kicking off on Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m., Bon Appetit Midwest Fellow, Elise Kulers, will discuss campus food systems. Attendees will be guided through sustainable practices and food purchasing at Trine from food waste to animal welfare, followed by a Q&A.

An additional presentation, "Winfield, Kansas' Early Roots in Community Music: 1870-1930," will be held on March 21 at 3:30 p.m. by Professor Peter Weinert, touching on the importance of music in community. Weinert will discuss Winfield's experiences in its early years that contributed to the creation of a community fully engaged as both consumers of music and active participants.

Originally created as a platform for artists and scholars to showcase their research outside of conferences, the Humanities Symposia has developed into a series of presentations with diverse speakers, covering a wide array of topics applicable to humanities.

Both sessions are free of charge to the university and the community and begin at 3:30pm in Wells Theater in Taylor Hall. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot in the theater, limited seating of 75 guests.
