Thunder Ice Arena announces clinics, open skates for December
ANGOLA, Ind. (11/20/2019) — Trine University's Thunder Ice Arena will host several hockey clinics and special open skate events through the month of December and into the new year.
The arena will host shooting/scoring clinics conducted by youth hockey director John Mihalik from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. Cost is $15 per player.
A goalie clinic by Jessica Convery, assistant coach for Trine's NCAA Division III women's hockey team, also will take place at 3-4 p.m. Dec. 8. Cost for the goalie clinic is $20. For more information or to register, contact Convery at converyj@trine.edu.
Mihalik also will conduct a stickhandling clinic from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19. Cost for that clinic is $15 per player.
Two clinics will be offered on Dec. 26. A stick and puck clinic will be available from 4-5 p.m. for a cost of $10 per player, and a parent/child clinic will be held from 5:15-6:30 p.m. for a cost of $25 per family.

The arena hosts regular open skates from 5:45-7:45 p.m. every Wednesday and 4:45-6:45 p.m. every Sunday. Special themed skates will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, the Ugly Christmas Sweater Open Skate, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, the New Year's Open Skate.
Due to the Christmas holiday, there will be no open skate on Dec. 25. Instead, the arena will host a Holiday Open Skate from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26.
Cost for open skate is $6, with skate rental available for $3. The arena is offering Open Skate Passes for stocking stuffers during the month of December, with 11 passes for the price of 10 ($60). For more information, contact Mike Ferrell, ice arena director, at (260) 665-4319.
