Trine golf outing raises more than $108,000
ANGOLA (08/14/2017) — Trine University supporters came together Friday, Aug. 4, on the university's Zollner Golf Course to play golf, eat meals prepared by Bon Appetit and raise more than $108,000 for student scholarships.
A total of 72 teams raised $108,634 at the 27th Annual Alumni & Friends Scholarship Golf Outing, setting records for participation and total money raised at this event.
First place was won by the team of Shawn Floyd '09, Andrew Lesher '09, Jason Paff '11 and Alex Lorencz '10. Second place was captured by a team of Trine alumni and friends, and a team sponsored by Risk Strategies came in third place.
Ed Hemmert, a 1966 mechanical engineering graduate from Trine, won the 50/50 drawing.
Several raffle prizes were generously donated, including rounds at various local golf courses, golf clubs and a Kindle Fire. Event and other major sponsors included AMI Investment Management, Metal Technologies Inc., Michael Kinder & Sons, Parkview Health, Bon Appetit Management Company, The James Foundation, Auburn Concrete & Masonry, Steve and Wendy LaHood, Chuck and Rita Nedele, Republic Services and Jim Ingledue Construction Inc.
The annual golf outing benefits the Trine Fund for student scholarships, which enables deserving students to earn a degree at Trine. The 2018 outing is scheduled for Aug. 3.
