Trine participating in College Application Month events
ANGOLA (08/30/2018) — September is College Application Month, and Trine University will participate in events throughout the month sponsored by the American Council on Education (ACE) and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
Applying to Trine University is always free, and the university also accepts the Common Application. Students who apply to Trine typically receive an admission decision within two weeks.
The ACE will sponsor #WhyApply Day on Sept. 21, and is encouraging students, faculty and staff to post selfies and photos including reasons why to apply to college. Staff from Trine's Admission Office will post on social media throughout the day.
Indiana's College GO! will kick off the week of Sept. 24, with Indiana College Application Day set for Sept. 28.
College Application Day, a national initiative of the American College Application Campaign (ACAC), aims to increase the number of first-generation and low-income students who pursue education after high school. The purpose is to help high school seniors navigate the college admission process and ensure each student submits at least one application.
Students who apply to Trine University early are able to find out more quickly which scholarships, grants and other financial aid they qualify for, giving them plenty of time to plan financially for college, said Heather Kim, assistant vice president and dean of admission.
"Applying early also gives us more time to help students find additional resources, if needed," she said.
With Trine's main campus undergraduate population continuing to set records, the university also encourages students to apply early and submit a room deposit in order to get a room in the residence hall of their choice. Undergraduate main campus enrollment rose 4 percent at Trine this fall to more than 2,000 students, including a 7.5 percent increase in the residential population, and overall enrollment is expected to top 5,000 for the second straight year.
"While Trine continues to have more than adequate housing for its residential students, early admission and deposit gives an advantage to those who want to live in facilities such as our honors residence halls, or who want to participate in special programs like our Living Learning Communities," said Kim.
University officials attribute the ongoing growth at Trine, which has been recognized as the fastest growing private college in Indiana over the past several years, to its more than 99 percent job placement rate for graduates, small class sizes, vibrant campus life and caring, expert faculty.
