Trine raises more than $175,000 during Giving Tuesday

ANGOLA, Ind. (12/09/2019) — Supporters contributed more than $175,000 toward student scholarships, enhanced classroom experiences and state-of-the-art facilities at Trine University during Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3.

A total of 198 donors gave $175,172.20 over the course of the day.

"The generosity of the Trine University family is overwhelming," said Lisa Maxwell-Frieden, J.D., vice president for alumni and development. "Even with many worthy organizations seeking funds on Giving Tuesday, the Trine community exceeded our goals in helping provide for a quality private education for our students."

The funds raised include a generous 2:1 match by the James Foundation for anything given toward student scholarships.

Giving Tuesday, held the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, has been celebrated since 2012. Intended to counter more commercial post-Thanksgiving events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday seeks to celebrate and encourage charitable giving internationally at the beginning of the holiday season.
