Trine seeks community mentors for speed networking event
ANGOLA (03/05/2018) — Members of the community are invited to participate in Trine University's All Majors Speed Networking Event, which will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, on the concourse of Trine's new MTI Center.
During the event, Trine students will meet a new person every three minutes. The goal is to help students build relationships and get comfortable communicating at face-to-face networking events. Local mentors already are planning to participate from Aflac, Cahoots Coffee Café, Cameron Hospital, the City of Angola, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Metal Technologies, Northwestern Mutual, Rise Inc., the Steuben County United Way, the Sherwin Williams Company, Vestil Manufacturing and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne, as well as Trine University faculty and staff, but more are needed.
Members of the community who participate will have the opportunity to meet and build relationships with Trine students.
"The relationships you build are essential to your success. According to HubSpot, Almost nine out of 10 jobs are filled through networking, and nearly seven in 10 value face-to-face networking more than online," said Linda Cooper, employment specialist at Trine's Employment Resource Center. "Now is the time for students to grow their network and get comfortable communicating at face-to-face networking events."
The event is free, and includes light refreshments and prize drawings, but pre-registration is required by March 16. Register at bit.ly/TrineSpeedNetworking.
