Taking the baton from last year's team, five Trine University mechanical engineering seniors renewed their partnership with Dexter Axle's Albion, Indiana, facility to complete a custom-built pallet squeezer-an industrial machine designed to realign heavy stacks of manufacturing pallets.

A leg up: Trine team's device seeks to reduce X-rays, trial and error in pediatric femur surgery
The process of inserting a metal rod, known as an intramedullary nail, into a child's broken femur to facilitate healing can add to what is already a traumatic experience, requiring multiple X-rays and attempts to properly lock the nail in place. A Trine University senior design team hopes their project can someday help reduce that trauma.

On April 8, a Trine University senior design team introduced the students in Leanne Lies' class to BabbleBot, an online application featuring a character (also named BabbleBot) who generates customized stories and pictures using phonemes and sight words they need to practice.
