Students were recognized by faculty based on their work and the skills they have shown, both in and out of the classroom. The following awards were distributed to students: Outstanding Senior in Humanities and Communication: Isabel Newcom, an English major from Logansport, Indiana. Writing Center Outstanding Senior Tutor Award: Brooklynn Gravel, a communication major from Hillsdale, Michigan, and Isabel Newcom. Outstanding Student Work in Graphic Arts: Lauren Banks, a communication major from Angola, Indiana. Outstanding Student Leadership Award: Haylee Richards, an English major from Liberty, Indiana. Mal Foerster Backstage Award: Katrina Kellogg, a design engineering technology major from Bryan, Ohio. Golden Microphone Award Excellence in Broadcasting: Brooklynn Gravel. Outstanding Freshman in HAC: Ian Hoffman, a communication major from Montpelier, Ohio. Needler McGregor Excellence in English: Blake Williams, an English major from Elkhart, Indiana. Outstanding Spanish Student Award: Madyson McShane, a psychology major from La Porte, Indiana. Spanish instructor Ana Boman performed the Alpha Beta Nu chapter Induction Ceremony during the HAC awards. Meara Finnegan, a biology major from Blissfield, Michigan, was inducted into the chapter.

Jenna Gales was nominated her classmates as the Class of 2022 Outstanding Student. This award honors a student whose classmates feel best represents the character, traditions, and values of the graduating class throughout their time at Trine University.

Nick Bowman [Angola, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] of the men's basketball team received the Robert L. Greim Award for Top Male Student-Athlete and Evie Miller (Bultemeyer) [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] was tabbed the Cheryl L. Coons Award recipient for her efforts in women's cross country and track and field as Top Female Student-Athlete.

Trine University inducted the first members of its Alpha Beta Nu Hispanic Honorary Society as part of its annual Humanities and Communication awards, held Thursday, April 14, in Wells Theater inside Taylor Hall.

Ten seniors in Trine University's Allen School of Engineering and Computing were inducted into the Order of the Engineer during a ceremony on Dec. 8.

A Trine University mathematics student will present two mathematics colloquia in Wells Theater on the university campus. Jacob Roeder of Granger, Indiana, will speak Thursday, Oct. 14, on "Graph Pebbling," and Thursday, Oct. 28, on "Algebraically Defined Graphs." Both events begin at 4 p.m., and are free and open to the public.

Three Trine University students from the Franks School of Education have been recognized as Outstanding Future Educators by the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (IACTE).

Trine University has named Alexander Pessell, a biomedical engineering major from Arcadia, Ohio, as the winner of its Robert B. Stewart Award for its Class of 2021. The university also has named Distinguished Students from each of its academic schools.

Five Trine University senior business students scored in the 90th percentile or higher out of nearly 32,000 students nationwide on a national assessment test, the highest number of Trine students to perform at that level over a school year.

Trine University presented its first STEM Research and Design Symposium on Dec. 8 in the Jim and Joan Bock Center for Innovation and Biomedical Engineering. Several students received awards at the event.

Christie Hasbrouck (BSME 2016) received a Tau Beta Pi Graduate Fellowship to continue her education beyond her bachelor's degree. A total of 24 fellows were selected from 497 applicants to the engineering honor society. All Tau Beta Pi Fellowships are awarded on the competitive criteria of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.
