Trine students begin work on new water system for Ecuadorian village
Since 2017, teams including members from Trine University's Engineers Without Borders (EWB) chapter have assessed the water needs of a remote Ecuadorian village and surveyed the area for additional sources. In March, work began on improvements to the village's water system.

Exercise science students help test Olympic hopefuls
Eleven exercise science majors accompanied Shane Steele, DPT, chair and assistant professor of Trine's Department of Exercise Science, to the Next Olympic Hopeful, a talent transfer event held April 13 at the Turnstone Center in Fort Wayne. The group conducted field tests, analyzing about 20 athletes' movements and body mechanics to assess the effectiveness of their performance.

A team of five Trine University engineering students along with Tim Tyler, Ph.D., professor in the Reiners Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, made a follow-up trip to a remote Ecuadorian village in September to help improve its water system.

Emily Wilson, an Alexandria freshman majoring in biology, volunteered to help with Trine University's first Giving Day. During the Nov. 19 event, Emily helped by accepting donations at the Rick L. and Vicki L. James University Center.
