Koeppl Named Pitcher of the Week
For the second time this season, senior Anna Koeppl has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week. This is the fifth time this season the Thunder have had a student-athlete named MIAA Athlete of the Week and the third time a program pitcher has taken home the award. It is only the second time in Koeppl's career she has been tabbed. The senior made her first start of the week in the second game against Muskingum University. After the team had dropped the first game of the day, Koeppl brought a steady presence to the circle leading the way to a 5-1 victory. She allowed just eight baserunners during the game, seven hits and a hit-by-pitch, and allowed just one run, unearned. She went all six innings to earn a complete game that included three strikeouts. On Saturday, she took the second game again and posted nearly the same performance. Over her five innings of work she allowed just four baserunners, all on hits, while striking out four others. The one run of the game for the Bulldogs was unearned and she would earn credit for the 3-1 win. All told, she finished the week with seven strikeouts and a perfect 0.00 earned runs average.
