The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced Evie Bultemeyer [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] NCAA DIII National Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Louisville Classic last weekend.

A Trine University mathematics student will present two mathematics colloquia in Wells Theater on the university campus. Jacob Roeder of Granger, Indiana, will speak Thursday, Oct. 14, on "Graph Pebbling," and Thursday, Oct. 28, on "Algebraically Defined Graphs." Both events begin at 4 p.m., and are free and open to the public.

Senior football player Jacob Yoder (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Football Defensive Athlete of the Week following the team's defensive led victory over visiting Adrian College.

Senior Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week following her strong performance at the 2021 ITA Central Regional Championships this past weekend where she finished the singles draw in the Round of 16. This is the sixth time in her career and the first time this season that Spirrison has nabbed the award.

Automakers around the world are racing to design and produce more efficient, cost-effective electric vehicles. A group of Trine University students recently took part in a similar competition, designing an electric-powered go kart that went up against others from universities nationwide.

The College Sports Information Directors of America [CoSIDA] has unveiled the 2020-21 Academic All-District teams for cross country and track in NCAA Divisions I, II and III as well as NAIA, with two Thunder athletes gaining recognition in District VII: Jack Beakas [Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb] and Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern].

Cole Goodman [Eagle, Mich. / Grand Ledge] of Trine men's tennis has been named Athlete of the Week by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) has named Trine women's soccer player Ellie Price [Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute North Vigo] the conference's Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week. It is the second straight week where a Thunder women's soccer player has been honored as an Athlete of the Week. Price is the first defensive nominee of the season.

On day two of the Hanover Invitational, Trine women's volleyball highlighted a monumental career accolade for the Thunder women's volleyball program. Fifth-year senior setter Jacqueline Baughman recorded her 2,000th assist against Berea and passed Tori Bluhm for fourth most assists in school history later in the match.

Trine University junior Mitch Lowney (Fenton, Mich. / Clarkston Everest) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week. It is the first time this season that a Thunder student-athlete has taken home the award and the first time that Lowney has earned the honor.

A $15,000 grant from the Indiana Space Grant Consortium (INSGC) will fund an undergraduate research project at Trine University that seeks to help understand the impact of spacewalks on astronauts.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced their 2021 ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams, with multiple Thunder teams and athletes being represented. Both the Trine men's and women's tennis programs were named as All-Academic Teams, and 17 were recognized as Scholar-Athletes.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced the 2020-21 NABC Honors Court, with three members of the Trine men's basketball team being honored: Nick Bowman, Griffin Lorimer and Bryce Williams.

Trine University women's volleyball senior Jacqueline Baughman [Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest] has been named to the Academic All-America Division III Volleyball Team by CoSIDA on Wednesday. The CoSIDA Academic All-American program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) has released its fifth annual "Krampade All American Scholar" listings for the 2020-21 season. The Trine University men's hockey team finished with 16 student-athletes taking home the award.

Trine University senior Jacqueline Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in women's volleyball.

The Trine University women's track and field program had a pair of student-athletes earn All-American status by finishing top-eight in their events at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Sophomore Jake Gladieux (Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer) became just the second national champion in the Trine University men's track and field program's NCAA history by winning the 400 M hurdles. He also earned All-American status on the back of the win.

The Trine University track and field program had a baker's dozen honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Great Lakes Region student-athletes.

This year's Trine University combat robot team faced a difficult choice: whether to take their senior design project to the competition it was designed for, or participate in Commencement. The team found out the National Robotics Challenge (NRC) was scheduled for May 8, the same day as Commencement, about a month before both events were scheduled to occur.
